Gong Hey Fat Choi

After having met with Gunnar at Cuisine Bangkok and Cafe Myriade, I was invited to join a Chinese New Year dinner in chinatown. After nine dishes including chicken intestites and legs, 'normal' chicken, pidgeon, lamb soup with fresh water cress and duck soup, I needed a walk before going to bed. I decided to go from Place des Arts to McGill station through the underground city to prove that this passage does is not just a myth. It took me about half an hour to get from the northwestern entrance of Place des Arts to Station Bonaventure. From there I took the metro home, and tonight I walked the rest of the passage, which is pretty straightforward through the central station and the Eaton center. Walking peacefully through these dead business complexes and malls at night, encountering only security personnel every once in a while and trying to figure out the is something you should not miss (Sunday after 10pm is good, they close up around 11pm). My Soundtrack: Anthony Rother - My Name Is Beuys Von Telekraft, especially 'Geomatrix (Part 1-10)'. There are some maps, but for finding your way down there I would stick to the symbolic map you can find in most major waypoints.

Station Bonaventure

What an adequate name, this station next to the central station was the endpoint of my underground city explorations. Am I the only one who is reminded of Quake I by the bridges at this and the other stations (the maps are more Doom I)?

Update

Linse visited me with her new D300, and we discovered Montreal a second time.
Finally visited Cafe Myriade- Lukas pointed me to this and they really do the best coffe in town. I am spoiled now.
Further places not to miss:
- Sandwiches: Santropol/Schwartz.
- Thai food: Cuisine Bangkok.
- Breakfast: L'Avenue du Mont Royal.
- Cafes: 'la cagili' formerly know as the 'Pharmacie Esperanza' on St. Laurent and St. Viateur. Also on St. Viateur: 'Cafe Olympico'.
I moved to my new place on Drolet and Mont Royal
I build a first prototype for my diploma thesis.
I got myself a pair of Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro's which made me listen to music again.
The winter has undeniably arrived- last week temperatures were always well under -20C. My new room is not very warm, even with the heating on full power I have to sleep in my down sleeping bag fully zipped up.
I went snowboarding for the first time and liked it.
My French is getting better.
We finally got internet at home, but only the slowest plan from Videotron: 600/128 Kbit - and 2 Gb transfer limit! I realized that I am addicted to high bandwith low latency internet and that I took german internet plans for granted. One evening spend on soup and alike with linse already amounted to over 500 Mb. At least there is free internet at most cafes (except Starbucks- I wonder why anyone would go there), many (150) participate at Ile sans fil - is there something like this in Germany?
My stylesheet is really broken, I know. And the moin-parser can't handle non-ASCII chars :/.
